AX Youth Academy: Where Legends Begin |
Training, mentoring, and showcasing young talent to secure the future of the sport.
For years, Arenacross has been a launchpad for young motocross talent, and now we’re making it official with the AX Youth Academy. This exciting initiative gives youth riders the chance to train with pros, race in front of thousands, and gain industry insights from the very best. From mentoring sessions on Arenacross tracks to media coaching and support from top manufacturers, the Academy offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help shape tomorrow’s motocross legends. For 2025, we’re handpicking five standout youth riders to join us on tour and take their skills to the next level. The future of motocross starts here!
But why Arenacross? What makes this epic tour such an important part of a young kids motocross career?
Dylan Woodcock’s journey from a young motocross enthusiast to a stadium racing specialist highlights the critical role Arenacross plays in shaping professional riders. Starting Supercross at age 7, Dylan quickly made a name for himself, winning the 50cc class in 2007 and continuing to excel in the Small-Wheel 85s. His passion for jumping, developed through BMX and riding on local tracks, gave him a unique edge in mastering Arenacross.
By 2017, Dylan was competing in the Arenacross 250 class, a step that prepared him for his stint in the USA as a Supercross privateer. Despite challenges with injuries, Dylan credits Arenacross for teaching him essential skills like precision, patience, and technique—qualities that are vital at the pro Motocross level. He believes it’s an invaluable stepping stone for aspiring riders. “Riding Arenacross teaches skills you can’t learn anywhere else. It’s also a polished, crowd-friendly format that’s great for sponsors and fans,” Dylan explains. His journey underscores how Arenacross builds a strong technical foundation and offers a pathway to success on the global stage.
Joe Clayton’s story highlights how Arenacross goes beyond racing to provide mentorship and inspiration. Starting his Arenacross journey in the AX Rookies at age 16, Joe quickly advanced, winning multiple Pro Lites Championships. His family’s Wheeldon Off-Road Centre played a key role, giving him access to a custom indoor track that helped refine his skills.
Joe emphasizes how Arenacross provides young riders with unparalleled opportunities to interact with Pro riders, both on and off the track. “Being around the Pros, learning directly from them, and experiencing the intensity of Arenacross—it all helps kids develop the patience, skill, and mindset needed to succeed in motocross,” Joe shares. Now, he uses the Wheeldon facility to mentor rising talent, helping them prepare for the challenges of Arenacross and beyond.
From teaching technical skills to offering unique mentoring opportunities, Arenacross has proven to be a game-changer for young riders like Dylan and Joe. It’s a sport that not only develops talent but also sets riders on a path toward professional success and lifelong passion.
