Reisulis Brothers maintain strong start to 2026 MX2 World Championship

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Janis and Karlis Reisulis have placed fifth and eighth overall, respectively, at the MXGP of Andalucia. Racing at a new, sandy circuit in Almonte for round two of the series, the talented duo delivered a pair of solid rides aboard their Yamaha YZ250FM machinery to secure their top-10 results.

Returning to Europe for the second of 19 rounds, the teammates headed to the south of Spain focused on building upon their impressive performances in Argentina. Both riders adapted quickly to the fast, rough, and challenging track, and enjoyed racing at the sharp end of the field.

J. Reisulis once again demonstrated his starting ability in Race One, running in fourth through the opening laps. As the race continued, the reigning EMX250 Champion battled with several of his experienced competitors and ultimately crossed the finish line in fifth position.

In Race Two, J. Reisulis’ start was almost as strong as in Race One, and he held seventh until the midway point of the race. He then worked his way past Liam Everts into sixth and, in a seriously impressive finish, passed Mathis Valin on the final lap to secure another fifth-place result. On the day, J.Reisulis placed fifth overall and the MX2 rookie remains sixth in the championship standings leaving Spain.

K. Reisulis was also on form at round two. With his confidence continuing to grow, the 20-year-old improved upon his ninth-place finish in the opening race with a hard-fought eighth in Race Two.
Finishing eighth overall ensures K. Reisulis remains eighth in the standings, and with the next Grand Prix taking place in Switzerland - where he has previously secured a race podium - the stage is set for him to battle at the front of the MX2 field next weekend.

The MX2 World Championship resumes in one week’s time at the hardpack venue of Frauenfeld, where the team will remain focused on maintaining its strong start to the 2026 campaign.

“It was another really positive weekend for me. I was able to keep my flow right through to the end of the races, which is something I’ve been working on, and I think that comes down to having a stronger mindset both before and during the race. That allowed me to keep fighting with the front group and I made some good passes on experienced riders. Overall, it was a very encouraging weekend, and we’ll keep building from here.”

“I feel like it could have been better, as I know I have more in me. My main struggle at the moment is finding that consistent race rhythm. Once I get a bit of arm pump it becomes harder to stay relaxed and ride the way I want to. That’s something I need to keep working on – staying calm and managing it better. The second moto was an improvement for me; even if the result wasn’t much different, the feeling on the bike was better, which is a positive to take away.”
