Kay de Wolf impresses in MXoN debut | Nestaan MX

The Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing squad made the lengthy trip to Buchanan, Michigan, this past weekend, but it was worth every second. Kay de Wolf made his debut at the prestigious Motocross of Nations, with The Netherlands, and what better place to mark such an occasion than RedBud? The iconic circuit is one that most riders dream of. Now, de Wolf can say that he has conquered it.

The Netherlands finished second at the Motocross of Nations one year ago, so de Wolf had '5' attached to his FC 250. Racing at such a unique event presents many challenges, like racing against the world's best 450F riders and trying to cling onto as many points as possible. De Wolf acquitted himself well in the first moto, which combined the MXGP and MX2 riders, as he started inside of the top fifteen and immediately got to work. It took him a matter of laps to claw his way onto the back of the leading MX2 riders and he matched their pace quite comfortably, as he reached the finish line in tenth place. That meant that he was the third MX2 rider in the classification.

Unfortunately, the result from the second moto does not look quite as good on paper. Misfortune struck in the form of two crashes that restricted him to eighteenth at the chequered flag. To recover to that spot was another example of his composure though; it was no mean feat. 10-18 scores put him sixth in the MX2 overall classification, just two points from the rider in fourth. Those results contributed to The Netherlands' final ranking of seventh overall.

Another international campaign is in the record books now and, with that, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing would like to thank everyone for their continued support in what has been a turbulent season. The final chequered flag has fallen on the current season, but work for next year is already well underway!

Kay de Wolf: "It was a tough weekend, to be honest. I had to throw my goggles early in the first moto, so I tried to avoid the roost. I survived and got tenth, which was quite good. I was around twelfth in the second moto and hit someone’s rear wheel, which just sent me off the track. It took a while to get up and then I was riding well, but a rider crashed after pit lane and slammed me off the bike."
