Roan van de Moosdijk continues to impress | Nestaan MX

Dressed to impress on home turf for Husqvarna Motorcycles, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing had a very enjoyable weekend at the Grand Prix of Sweden. Sweden was the fifteenth stop of the 2022 FIM Motocross World Championship and marked the start of a three-week string of events.

Damage limitation was the name of the game for Kay de Wolf, as a small crash in Saturday's qualifying race left him with a mediocre gate pick on Sunday. It was still a productive day of racing for '74' though; he rode well in moto one to salvage a seventh after starting around tenth. A good start was desperately needed in the second moto though and, unfortunately, he did not quite get it. Completing lap one in the back half of the top ten once again, he charged up to seventh at the chequered flag with impressive moves in the latter stages. 7-7 scores put him sixth in the overall classification.

Roan van de Moosdijk continues to impress fans across the world with his pace in just the second Grand Prix since his return to racing. Similar to last time out in Belgium, Moosdijk was charging forwards in the first moto before an issue restricted him to thirteenth at the chequered flag. There was absolutely no doubt that he had the potential to battle for a top-three result in moto two though and he was very close to that! Moosdijk started inside of the top five and fought with the championship favourites early on before completing the moto in fourth place. 13-4 scores meant that he was ranked in eighth overall.

Northern Europe remains a hotspot for motocross over the next week, as round sixteen of the current term will be run in Finland on August 14. The final chequered flag is edging closer.

Kay de Wolf: "It was a tough day. I hit a marshal's flag with my hand yesterday, so today was about survival. I had a bad start in the first moto and came back to seventh. I had a slightly better start in the second moto and did my own thing. It was an intense race; we were all going so fast and doing exactly the same pace. I went 7-7, so it was a good day. Onto Finland!"

Roan van de Moosdijk: "I felt really good today. I was fifth in the first moto, but then I had an issue and a little crash that put me thirteenth. I was fifth in the second moto and battled hard for fourth. I had a small gap behind me, because another rider crashed, so I kept pushing and finished in that spot. That was good; I was very happy about that."
