Tyla van de Poel Secures Fourth Place in Lierop |
Tyla van de Poel of the De Baets MX team achieved an impressive fourth-place finish in the first moto of the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop. Unfortunately, a mechanical issue in the second moto forced him to withdraw from the race.
During practice, Tyla immediately felt comfortable on the track, allowing him to push for a sharp lap time. His efforts paid off, as he secured the fourth-fastest time in his group.
A strong start in the first moto saw him begin the race around fifth place. With a solid rhythm, he advanced to third but then struggled with arm pump, causing him to drop one position. Tyla fought hard to maintain his pace and successfully held onto fourth place until the finish line.
The second moto started much less favorably, with Tyla emerging from the first corner in 25th place. He immediately went on the attack, quickly making up several positions. However, after just two laps, his charge was cut short due to a mechanical problem, forcing him to retire from the race.
Tyla van de Poel's reaction:
"I have mixed feelings about the first moto because I know there was more potential. We know what we need to work on, and we’ll focus on that in the coming weeks."
Next Sunday, Van de Poel will compete in the Belgian season opener in Lommel.
