Strong performances by the Reisulis brothers in Sommières

The Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team can look back on a successful international spring race in Sommières, France. At the traditional French circuit, known for its deep ruts and tricky early-season conditions, the Latvian brothers Karlis Reisulis and Janis Reisulis showed promising form in the build-up to the new season.

The track presented typical French conditions: technical, demanding, muddy, and filled with deep ruts that became increasingly challenging throughout the day. Ideal circumstances to gain valuable race minutes ahead of the season opener in Argentina.

For Janis Reisulis, the day started perfectly. In the first MX2 moto, he got off to a strong start, quickly took the lead, and rode a controlled race from the front. Maintaining a high and consistent pace, he held onto the lead and convincingly won the moto — an impressive victory that underlined his strong form.

In the second moto, Janis had a less favorable start but once again demonstrated his resilience. Throughout the race, he steadily worked his way forward, making significant progress especially in the closing stages. He eventually finished fourth and was even closing in on the top three by the time the checkered flag fell.

In the Superfinal, he was involved in contact with another rider in the crowded start, crossing the line on the opening lap around 21st position. Refusing to give up, he delivered a strong comeback ride to finish 15th. More important than the result, however, was the fact that he felt comfortable on the bike and was satisfied with the valuable race time he gained on the demanding circuit.

Karlis Reisulis also began the day in promising fashion, taking the holeshot in the opening moto. He led for several laps before colliding with Valin, which brought him to a brief standstill. From that point on, he had to fight his way back through the field. During the race, he suffered from arm pump, making it difficult to maintain his pace. He ultimately dropped back to seventh place.

The second race and the Superfinal went better for Karlis. He was able to maintain his rhythm more consistently and ran with the leading group throughout. Although he is still experiencing some arm pump during races, the team views this as a valuable learning process.

The Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team looks back on Sommières with satisfaction. The speed is there, the starts are strong, and both riders gained important race minutes on a demanding circuit.

In the coming weeks, preparations will continue at full intensity to be fully ready for the first Grand Prix of the season in Argentina.
