Strong performance from Lotte van Drunen in Dutch Championship 250 in Heerde |
Lotte van Drunen of the De Baets MX team delivered a strong performance at the Dutch Mid Season Race in Heerde. Tyla van de Poel was also present and continued to build his race rhythm during the event.
Due to an injury sustained over the winter, Lotte had not been able to compete much earlier this year. That’s why she was eager to participate in the Dutch Mid Season Race in Heerde, where she lined up with the boys in the 250 class.
The start of qualifying didn’t go quite as Lotte had hoped, but she still managed to qualify for the A group – her main goal. Tyla had a solid qualifying session, clocking the ninth-fastest time, securing his spot in the main race without any issues.
Before the start of the first moto, heavy rain had already set in, creating wet and muddy track conditions. Along with 38 other riders, Lotte and Tyla lined up at the gate for the 25-minute plus one lap moto. When the gate dropped, Lotte had a good reaction and started strong with the front-runners. She passed the pit lane in twelfth position but had to give up a few spots in the opening lap. Throughout the rest of the race, she rode well, maintained a good pace, and kept her lap times consistent. Out of the 55 riders who participated in morning qualifying, she finished in an impressive eighteenth place!
Tyla also got off to a good start but made a small mistake in the first lap that cost him a few positions. He began to fight back but encountered goggle problems a few laps in, which forced him to pull into the pit lane for a fresh pair. Despite the setback, he managed to salvage a 22nd place finish in the first moto.
Due to persistent rain, the second moto was canceled. As a result, the first moto results stood as the final classification of the day.
