Gyan Doensen Secures Top 3 Finish at Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop |
|
For Gyan Doensen of the Gabriel SS24 KTM Team, the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop did not go without challenges, but the young rider from Swalmen demonstrated true character and perseverance throughout the day.

Doensen did not feel completely at his best during the event. In the first moto, he immediately faced setbacks. A crash at the start, followed by another fall in the second lap, meant he had to fight his way back from the rear of the field. As if that was not enough, he also suffered from an exceptional amount of arm pump — more than he had ever experienced before. Nevertheless, he battled his way through the pack and finished the race as strongly as possible.
In the second moto, Doensen showed his resilience. With a strong third-place finish, he demonstrated both speed and clear progress. Although he admitted that he could have launched his attack a little earlier, he viewed it mainly as a valuable learning moment in his development as a motocross rider. “That’s all part of building race experience,” said Doensen.
Despite a mixed day of results, the positives prevail. The speed is there, as is the fighting spirit. The focus now shifts fully to the first EMX round in Spain, where Doensen aims to line up at the start gate in optimal form.
“Thank you to everyone who came out to support me, and thanks to my team,” he concluded.
