NIGHT of the JUMPs - Drei Weltmeister mit dabei

Das sportlich extremste Comeback der Hauptstadt

Die bekannteste FMX Serie der Welt mit Weltmeister und X Games Champion Luc Ackermann und den World Champions David Rinaldo und Maikel Melero 

 

Über 300 NIGHT of the JUMPs® Events weltweit vor über drei Millionen begeisterten Fans in 22 Jahren. Krasse Rekorde, spektakuläre Stunts und Trickpremieren am laufenden Band. Nach drei Jahren feiert die weltweit wichtigste FMX-Sportserie endlich das Comeback in Berlin.

Am 24./25. Februar 2023 ist es so weit, halsbrecherische Tricks auf zwei Rädern in atemberaubender Höhe unter dem Dach der Mercedes-Benz Arena. Über 1.000 Tage mussten die Motorsport-Fans in Berlin darauf warten. Zur Feier des Comebacks bringt die NIGHT of the JUMPs mit dem Freestyle of Nations die Team World Challenge in die Hauptstadt. Dabei treten drei Teams in verschiedenen Disziplinen im Freestyle Motocross gegeneinander an und sammeln Punkte.

Neben dem Freestyle Contest, bei dem die Sportler in 90 Sekunden ihre besten acht Tricks präsentieren, werden im Best Whip Contest alle Fahrer gleichzeitig durch die Arena fliegen. Im Synchronwettbewerb stellt jede Nation zwei Sportler, die ihre härtesten Tricks möglichst synchron präsentieren. Und im Best Trick Contest geht ein Fahrer aus jedem Land an den Start und zeigt seinen schwierigsten Trick. Das Team mit den meisten Punkten am Ende ist der neue Freestyle of Nations Team Champion.

Jetzt stehen die drei Mannschaften für Berlin fest: Team Tschechien vs. Team Spanien vs. Team Deutschland!

Auf dieses Comeback hat jeder Extremsport-Fan in Deutschland gewartet. Der deutsche FMX-Weltmeister und X Games Gewinner Luc Ackermann wird, nach seinem Kreuzbandriss im August 22, in der deutschen Hauptstadt seine Rückkehr feiern. Als Mannschaftskapitän von Team Germany will er mit seinen Double Backflips, 360s und Tsunami Flips in Berlin direkt angreifen. Tatkräftige Unterstützung kriegt er vom Local Hero Kai Haase. Auch er wird nach einer Verletzung in Berlin erstmals wieder auf dem Bike sitzen. Der X Games Best Trick Champion 2020 David Rinaldo komplettiert das deutsche Team. Er ist zwar Franzose, aber durch fehlenden Nachwuchs wurde aus der Not eine Tugend gemacht. David spricht Deutsch und wird mit seinen Rock Solid Backflips und California Rolls viele Punkte für die Mannschaft sammeln.

Team Tschechien wird angeführt von Filip Podmol. Der „Young Ninja“ ist der Bruder des ehemaligen FMX Weltmeisters Libor Podmol und hat bei der NIGHT of the JUMPs Serie schon für krasse Tricks gesorgt. International hat Filip in 2022 für Aufsehen in Latein-Amerika gesorgt. Jetzt will er auch bei der NIGHT of the JUMPs aufs Podest. Ihm zur Seite stehen der junge Matej Cesak, der bei der NIGHT of the JUMPs in Basel 2021 für Furore sorgte, indem er X Games Gewinner Edgar Torronteras im Best Whip Contest schlug. Abgerundet wird das Team Tschechien vom 2015 FMX Europameister Petr Pilat.

Als dritte Mannschaft geht Spanien ins Rennen. „La Furia Rocha“ kommt mit zwei absoluten Weltstars nach Berlin. Der fünffache FMX Weltmeister Maikel Melero will als „Capitán“ sein Team mit Frontflips und Body Varials zum Sieg führen. Ihm schließt sich bei der Mission die spanische FMX Legende Dany Torres an. Der Red Bull XFighters Sieger von 2011 hat es immer noch drauf, mit Tricks wie seinem Signiture Oxecutioner Backflip Trick. Komplettieren wird das Trio der wilde FMX Torrero Marc Pinyol. Der FMX Sportler aus Lleides steht für atemberaubende Tricks, hat aber auch schon krasse Stürze auf dem NIGHT of the JUMPs Track hingelegt.

Weitere Kracher stehen bereits für die Riege der Mountainbike- und BMX-Fahrer fest. So werden die FMX-Teams jeweils noch durch einen Mountainbike-Sportler komplettiert, der im MTB-Best Trick ebenfalls Punkte für das jeweilige Team sammelt. Aus Polen kommen Szymon Godziek und Dawid Godziek, die berühmten Mountainbiker Brüder mit unzähligen Rekorden nach Berlin. Dawid gewann 2022 Gold bei den X Games und Silber bei den Nitro World Games. Szymon holte Silber beim Red Bull Rampage in den USA. Die beiden Weltklasse-Athleten werden ihre härtesten Tricks raushauen. Erstmals könnte Berlin live einen 1080 Frontflip auf dem BMX-Bike sehen. Aus der deutschen MTB-Szene sind Maik Böhm, Tim Knopf, Michael Riekeberg und Leon Binkebank mit dabei. Miguel Guerro und Alexandro Bonafe reisen aus Spanien mit ihren Bikes in die Hauptstadt.

Als absolutes Sahnehäubchen kommt erstmals Scooter World Champion Richard Zelinka zur NIGHT of the JUMPs. Der tschechische Scooter-Star hat als erster den „360 Double buss to Double buss“ und wird sich in Berlin vom 10 Meter hohen Tower runterstürzen, um die krassesten Tricks zu ziehen.

Freestyle Motocross competition returns for all new season of NIGHT of the JUMPs in Berlin

The original champions of Freestyle of Nations return with Team Spain, and multiple X-Fighters record holder, Dany Torres breaking out of retirement!

On the 24th/25th of February 2023, FMX fans will be in for a treat when the world witnesses the return to competition from the previously retired multiple record holder at Red Bull X-Fighters, Dany Torres.

Dany will return to Freestyle Motocross to compete for Team Spain, who won the very first Freestyle of Nations event in 2014 with the then, soon-to-be 5-time consecutive World Champion, Maikel Melero.

Torres suffered for many years through X-Fighters and NIGHT of the JUMPs with multiple knee surgeries which ended in a full knee replacement. However, with a scorecard as long as his leg with records including most points ever at X-Fighters, most World Tour ‘top three’ appearances, most starts, most head-to-head wins for example, Dany knows how to handle the big competitions and to bring his huge repertoire of flip tricks to the podium.

To support Dany in Team Spain, will be the in-form and always picture-perfect Maikel Melero.  Having won 5 World Championship titles, Melero is easily the most dangerous rider on the course when it comes to tallying up points with tricks all around the bike, including Front Flip combos and Body Varials.  The young gun, Marc Pinyol will round out the 3-rider Spanish Team with his unique extension on all tricks and potentially the Surfer to Tsunami Flip which is one of the more high-risk moves he could add to his run.

Team Germany will return with the regular faces of the reigning World Champion and X Games Gold medalist, Luc Ackermann, competing on home soil, and the return from injury of Kai Haase.

The local Berliner has been on the yellow machine of the Suzuki for so long that fans could be forgiven for thinking he would never change. However in Berlin, it will be the first time we see Kai Haase attacking the course on a GasGas 450 which is noticeably lighter than the kickstarting Suzuki machine he has spent his career aboard.  Rounding out the German team with the Wild Card, former World Champion David Rinaldo and also an X Games Best Trick gold medalist.

Team Czech riders, Matej Cesak, Filip Podmol and Petr Pilat have been training furiously throughout the winter months to be ready in Berlin and look for their first win for the Czech team.  Podmol may be the secret weapon with new ramps being trialed over the Christmas break and we hope to see some new tricks from the younger Podmol brother.
