Kay de Wolf ends MXGP of Latvia on a high

The Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing squad entered the Grand Prix of Latvia, the sixth round of the 2022 FIM Motocross World Championship, at full strength. Jeremy Sydow sat alongside Kay de Wolf beneath the tent, as he leapt onto the FC 250 as a fill-in rider for the injured Roan van de Moosdijk. Kegums, Latvia, is a circuit that every Grand Prix star is familiar with, as the sandy layout has hosted four events in the last two years.

Kay de Wolf showed blistering speed over the weekend, but battled adversity and did well to salvage such an impressive haul of points. '74' crashed on the first lap in moto one and faced a mountainous task – he remounted on the cusp of the top thirty and immediately got to work. Twelfth was the spot that he had climbed up to by the time that the chequered flag waved. Redemption was sweet in the second outing; he claimed second after an impressive last-lap battle with a former world champion. De Wolf was eventually classified in fourth overall and is now tied for third in the championship standings.

Gaining knowledge was crucial for Jeremy Sydow at the Grand Prix of Latvia and he did that whilst showing top-ten speed aboard his FC 250. Two crashes ruined his first moto, but he still raced to the chequered flag to make the most of the opportunity. Although he didn't have the best start in the second moto, he put his head down and battled to thirteenth whilst posting some impressive lap times along the way. Eighteenth overall was not a true reflection of his potential, but it is something to build on when the Grand Prix contingent reconvene in a couple of weeks.

Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing will regroup and take advantage of a weekend off now, before jumping into action at the seventh stop of the 2022 FIM Motocross World Championship on May 07/08. Maggiora will host the Grand Prix of Italy on that weekend.

Kay de Wolf: "It was a difficult day, but I turned it around in the second moto. I felt good on the bike all day! It was a difficult first moto, after my crash, but I still got twelfth. I was all-in for the second moto and had a good start. I was fourth early on and managed to take second after a nice battle on the last lap. It was good to end the day on a positive note like that."

Jeremy Sydow: "I expected more today, as I was feeling very good yesterday. I was riding in eighth in the first race, but made a little mistake and crashed. I had another big crash – I was just completely at the back. I did not have the best start in the second moto, but found a good rhythm and I was happy with my riding. The speed was good in that one, so we will take the positives into the weekend off."
