Positive weekend of racing for iXS hostettler Yamaha

Another weekend and yet another hectic schedule for iXS hostettler Yamaha! Kevin Brumann had his sights set on redemption at round five of the 2022 FIM Motocross World Championship, held at the brilliant track of Pietramurata in Italy, whilst Valentin Guillod strived to start in style at the opening round of the national series in Switzerland.

Hungry for redemption after such a rocky outing at the previous stop, Brumann was a picture of consistency on the deceivingly slick Italian surface. Qualifying in sixteenth on Saturday, he went one better than that in the first moto on Sunday and reached the chequered flag in fifteenth. Unfortunately, a very poor start and mistake restricted him in moto two. '87' did well to recover from twenty-sixth to seventeenth though! The same result was secured in the overall classification and, thanks to the ten points that were claimed in Italy, he is now eighteenth in the championship.

Proving just how much grit and determination he has, as well as what a solid team unit he has around him, Valentin Guillod raced in both MX Open (aboard his YZ450F) and MX2 (aboard his YZ250F) at round one of the Switzerland's national championship today. It was utter dominance for him; he raced to pole in both of the classes and swept every single moto to record an incredible scorecard of 1-1-1-1-1-1 on the day. Guillod will race with the red plate in both MX Open and MX2 at the next event, signalling that he is at the head of the field in both title fights.

There will not be a round of the FIM Motocross World Championship next weekend, but round four of the French Elite series will be run on April 17. That is where Valentin Guillod's attention will lie. The Grand Prix series will resume in Latvia on April 23/24.

Kevin Brumann: “I came into this weekend with a lot of motivation – I like the track at Pietramurata. My start was okay in the first moto and I managed to pass some people, but I made some mistakes around the halfway point. I was quite happy with fifteenth in the first race though. My start was really bad in the second race; I was almost last and then had a little crash. I had to fight back and still managed to finish in seventeenth. Overall, I am quite happy. My speed was okay and so was my riding. There are some things that I need to work on, but we will keep going!”

Valentin Guillod: “It was a very nice day today! The track was just awesome, the best in Europe. I had a very good feeling on my YZ250F and YZ450F. I was first in every session and had the fastest lap every time as well. I can see that I am doing good physically, plus my speed is going in a good direction as well. I am looking forward to racing in France this coming Sunday, then it is the second race of the Swiss series on the following Monday. It is going to be a tough weekend, but I am looking forward to it!”
