iXS hostettler Yamaha enjoy productive weekend

It was another very busy weekend for iXS hostettler Yamaha; the two-man squad was stretched across two countries. Valentin Guillod continued his charge for the MX1 title in the French Elite series – he tackled the fifth round at Bitche. Kevin Brumann, meanwhile, piloted his YZ250F around the historic circuit of Maggiora for round seven of the 2022 FIM Motocross World Championship.

Kevin Brumann showed some tenacity and strength in his Italian outing. Although a crash in qualifying left him battered and bruised, he was impressive in the treacherous conditions on Sunday and recorded a solid haul of points. There was a fall just a couple of turns into moto one, unfortunately, but he found a way to claw his way into the points and take sixteenth at the end of the stint. The second moto was an even better showing – '87' battled rather hard to take fourteenth place at the chequered flag and fifteenth in the overall classification. More points at the very highest level for iXS hostettler Yamaha!

For Valentin Guillod, the French Elite outing was yet another positive experience and great example of his prowess aboard his YZ450F. It took a handful of laps for '92' to find his rhythm in moto one, but progress happened quite quickly once he did. Fourth was where he eventually finished, after starting outside of the top five, but redemption was on his mind entering the second moto. Using the power within his YZ450F, Guillod took an impressive holeshot before reaching the finish in second place. 4-2 scores put him second in the overall classification.

The eighth round of the 2022 FIM Motocross World Championship is next on iXS hostettler Yamaha's agenda. The Grand Prix of Sardegna will be held at Riola Sardo on May 15.

Kevin Brumann: "I was going into the weekend with a lot of motivation, as I really like the track. I loved it from the start of the weekend! I had a good start in the qualifying heat and then had a big crash that was quite painful. I had a good start in race one, but then crashed in the third corner and got going in last. I managed to get back to P16. I had a good start in the second race and managed the first few corners really well. I made some good passes, finished P14 and got P15 overall."

Valentin Guillod: "I started sixth in the first moto and entered a fight with the group in front quite quickly. I missed a bit of freedom in the first portion of the race, so the guys started to put a gap on me. I eventually found my rhythm and passed into fourth, which is where I finished. I was right with second and third. I knew that I could ride better! I took the holeshot in the second moto and made some good laps in the beginning. [Milko] Potisek passed me, so I focused on not making any mistakes and claiming second. I was happy about that result, but sad to lose a couple of points in the championship. The bike was just great today though."
